Special Issue on Advances in Metaheuristics In Honor of Fred Glover's 70th Birthday

Metaheuristics are essential tools for addressing complex optimization problems. The range of successful applications is growing and contributions introducing exciting new developments are continuously being made.

The Seventh Metaheuristics International Conference, MIC 2007, held in Montreal, Canada, June 25-29, 2007, in honor of Fred Glover's 70th birthday, reflected the extraordinary vitality of the field. MIC 2007 provided an open forum for the international research community in metaheuristics to discuss and share their experiences from the development of new ideas, concepts and algorithms, to the implementation of software and practical applications.

In connection with the activities of this conference, we are very glad to announce a special issue of the Journal of Heuristics, devoted to selected publications on Advanced Metaheuristics. We seek submissions from participants to MIC 2007, but the special issue is open to the entire international research community in metaheuristics. Contributions covering all topics in metaheuristics, ranging from neighbourhood-based search techniques and population-based approaches, to construction procedures and methods inspired by nature, including hybrids and complex search strategies, are welcome.

All contributions will be peer reviewed according to the usual standards of the Journal of Heuristics. The proposed timeline for this special issue is as follows:

Authors should submit their manuscripts using the Editorial Manager of the Journal of Heuristics at http://www.editorialmanager.com/heur/ . Please, select "Special Issue - MIC2007" as the article type. Do not hesitate to contact the Guest Editors for any further inquiries.
