Main Research Programs
-
PROGRAM 1-Transportation Systems Planning
- This program consists of the Centre's activities in the research to improve the quality, efficiency, user-friendliness and applicability of techniques to analyze and plan urban, regional or international passenger transport systems.
-
PROGRAM 2-Intelligent Transportation Systems
- This program consists of the Centre's activities in the analysis and the development of real-time systems for traffic management, vehicle guidance, traffic and travel time forecasting, management of passenger and freight vehicle fleets; development of software libraries for use on parallel computation platforms; development of traffic simulators, etc.
-
PROGRAM 3-Economy and Transportation Potitics
This program focuses on problems affecting transportation in the areas of costing, demand, markets, fares, productivity, performance and regulations.
-
PROGRAM 4-Transportation Safety
This program focuses on the analysis of human, socio-economic and physical phenomena in the realm of transportation, as well as the evaluation and determination of conditions or measures liable to reduce the number of accidents, as well as their severity and cost.
-
PROGRAM 5-Planning and Operations of Telecommunication Networks
This program focuses on the development of models and algorithms used to resolve flow problems within the telecommunications networks, as well as problems associated with network dimensioning and optimal design.
These research programs must in no way be considered as closed fields within which the researchers are confined. In fact, researchers normally work on several projects for different research orientations. It must not be forgotten that the C.R.T. is a venue for work and exchange organized so as to ensure that the knowledge and techniques developed in one sector can be transferred to other sectors and used in other applications.
